The tunnel mouth

After a few weekends attending to non modelling matters, the last weekend of February saw a visit to Model Rail Scotland in Glasgow. I have been going to this show off and on for 15 years or so and look forward to it each year, often annoying others at home with regular Days till MRS updates. I tend to visit on the Friday. Not sure if it was the miserable weather this year, but I didn’t enjoy the show as much as I hoped and left a little disappointed. I’m not sure why as the layouts were great but I think I look forward to this show too much and it never lives up to my expectations.

I managed to pick up a few required items at the show, one of which was this tunnel portal which is to be used to hide the exit point to the lower helix. After getting back from MRS I headed straight to the shed to a spot of modelling therapy. Before I knew it the tunnel portal was in place, boxed in, covered in foam, plaster cloth, and Scultamold.

Thought then turned to the Distillery buildings. I wasn’t overly happy with how they fitted into the space I had so decided to get the razor saw out and split one of the warehouse buildings in half length ways. I also decided to build a quick shell of a loading shed which would allow wagons to enter and unload / load. I had some foam board lying around and it did th job. I think this has potential, though the unloading shed it a little too tall and needs some trimming.
